I found this video on YouTube, got in touch with the church and they sent a video. I love their collective enthusiasm, and like the visual of the pastor walking in from the background. - Hali

I could watch this group forever! The woman in the red shirt (back right) who dances throughout is Tully Strong. Watch the whole video to see their instrumental solos as well as their spirited singing. - Hali

This Land is Your Land-Woody Guthrie Tribute 4-22-'12

From an email sent by John Mascaro: I took the video and pics. You should at least mention Donald Rappaport because not only has he been a Host of these jams for at least the past 2 years or more, but he worked hard in getting copies of lyrics of "This Land is Your Land" and pretty much explaining, organizing the session...the monthly acoustic jam is co-sponsored by Broward County Parks (Ft. Lauderdale's Secret Woods Nature Center in particular) and the Broward Folk Club. -John
I also found out that I knew Donald from years ago when he'd lived in Berkeley. He even has my LP!
There is so much to check out in the full version of this video - do watch! - Hali

This Land Is Your Land Madrid Earth Day

MADRID, SPAIN

Comments

I knew Judy and Jack from when I'd stayed in Madrid for 3 months about 16 years ago. We've kept in touch, and as soon as I told Judy about this project, she came through with her usual enthusiasm. (She also contacted the group in Asturias who participated from northern Spain).
As with most groups, there's a lot going on in the full video that I couldn't fit into a few seconds (though I used both their Spanish chorus and the new verse Judy sang. She tried to find out the author so I could credit him, but she'd heard it from someone passing through. If it's you, let me know! - Hali

I can't say enough good things about Ron Dressler, the organizer of this Sing. He had been planning on leading this in Central Park, but due to torrential downpours, had to take it inside (with a much smaller group than he'd expected). Read more about Ron in The Story of Sing Out for Earth Day. - Hali

Larry Long Climate Justice This Land is Your Land

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA

Comments

Larry Long came up with the phrase "Mother Earth what have we done" to end the verses. If you watch the entire video, there are more verses you haven't heard before, several dealing with Native Americans. Larry heard them first sung by Floyd Red Crow Westerman – "but I don’t believe he wrote them. I’ve google searched but haven’t found where they originate from." - Hali
